My new 7/8th scale passenger flagstop
John Foley
I have been working over the weekend on the second building for
my extra narrow gauge / narrow gauge junction. I am building
a passenger station. The station will be placed to the right between
7/8th N18 and the 7/8th N2.
The station will be of the same design and color as the engine house
I just finished.
I have learned somethings during the construction of the engine house.
I am going to paint the windows, trim, siding and the foundation before
I combine them into the finished building. Also the I will build out the
windows before I install them.
The body of the station is pine wood. It will be primed and painted inside and outside
before proceed any further. The stonework is jigstone using cement tile grout. The sub roof
will be cement board underlayment with cedar shingles. I plan on having a hip roof design.
The engine house was made the same way. The freight station I got from Larry Mosher in
one of his railroad clearance sales. It has stood up to our winter weather for over five years
with only minor maintenance. If you look closely, you can see some replacement roof shingles.
A little more work done over the last week. I added vertical siding
under the windows. I plan to paint the top wood a dark brown just
like the engine house. the stonework will be gray. I plan a hip roof
covered with wood shingles.
Well a little over a month later.
I have finished the door, windows and a paint job.
Placed the station where it is going. I add a cardboard
mock-up roof. view from the rear.
The extra narrow gauge track will need to be relocated.
The next thing to do is the cement board sub roof.
The roofing will be cedar shingles.
I finally finished up the passenger station after a long delay to finish up
other things. I installed cedar shingles with a silicon glue. I well let the
weather darken the shingles.
The station set on the layout where it is going.
Next step is the fasten down the track and stone ballast.

New buildings
Great work John! The buildings are fantastic. I notice a material that appears to be trellis underneath your trackwork. How does this work?
